This was more of a 3.5 for me. I guess, personally, I'm more into the bad boys or guys with a little more edge, even when it comes to YA. The hero Sam was such a sweety - almost too sweet. He wasn't at all exciting to me. The story was tough for me to finish due to slower parts in the middle. The fact that I read about 5 books in the middle of this one should say it all, but it really doesn't. The story still sucked me in at the end. I did feel the heartache and I was absolutely rooting for an HEA! In spite of my lack of focus with Shiver, I still plan to read Linger....both of which I read in the middle of Shiver)
Pushing aside my preferences, Stiefvater's writing style is beautiful and almost poetic. I also plan to read her other popular title, Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception
