Lover Enshrined - J.R. Ward My least favorite of the BDB series, but that’s because I’ve been dreading Phury’s book since I started this series in the summer. He is simply too whiny and weak of a hero for me. The conversations with his inner demon/self doubt “The Wizard” were tough to swallow. I understand this is a representation of what real drug and alcohal addicts face in daily battles, but I just didn’t enjoy reading about it. And when Phury finally had his big “I am the Primale, and the Strength of the Race” moment, I just laughed in disbelief.

I really liked Phury’s shellen, Cormia, but I didn’t feel he deserved her. Yes,he’s had an emotionally traumatic life, but I just wasn’t cutting him any slack. What saved the book for me were the developments with Xhex and John Matthew. I absolutely love them together. His book, Lover Mine (March 2010), is the book release I am anticipating the most in the new year.
